KUALA LUMPUR: The air of festivity at Jalan Tengku Kelana in Klang will be heightened with the 1Malaysia Deepavali carnival from 2.30pm to 10pm.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor are expected to attend the carnival at 8pm.
Organising chairman Datuk K.K. Eswaran said the Prime Minister and his wife would have a walkabout in Jalan Tengku Kelana before joining the public for a cultural performance and dinner.
Eswaran said the event would be a historic occasion as this was the first time a Prime Minister was visiting Tengku Kelana to join in the celebrations in conjunction with Deepavali.

He said that about 80,000 people are expected to attend the seven-hour carnival organised by the Malaysian Association Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI) in collaboration with the Malaysian Indian Textiles and General Stores Association.
Eswaran said the carnival would foster goodwill and a spirit of brotherhood among Malaysians.
Najib, he said, would also hand over donations to underprivileged children and old folks homes during his visit there.
